|Rescue Me ID: 18-06-19-00062Buddy (male)|
Buddy is the sweetest, gentlest boy. He does not jump up onto people but rather offers a friendly and enthusiastic tag wag. Unlike the tails of other dogs, Buddy's tail is not bulky but elegant because he probably is a Catahoula Dog, at least a mix of sorts. It's hard to say for sure because Buddy was found thin from hunger, frightened, and alone. Weighing about 30lbs, Buddy could be anywhere from 9 months to about 2 years old. Heartworm negative, he has been fully vetted and neutered. He has quickly learned commands and is house trained. He is ready to be adopted as an amazing family dog. He doesn't seem to pay much attention to cats and tries to be gentle with small dogs, though he isn't very coordinated in his efforts. With humans and other large dogs, he is sweet and gently playful. Note: Not a Southern Treasures Animal Rescue. Courtesy post for a private party. (Less)

Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
