There you will see all of our available pets. If you are interested in any of the FFOSK9 pups, the first step is to fill out an application at http://www.ffosk9resq.org/info/adoption or if you are on the Northeast and working with our wonderful partner, For The Love Of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue, go to http://www.vermontdogrescue.com/adoption-application/. For the Love of Dogs Vermont Dog Rescue helps place many of our rescues into loving homes. Sandy ... (Read More)found herself alone and about ready to give birth to puppies with no one there to comfort her or to make sure her birthing experience was trouble free. Sandy gave birth to 10 puppies under a mobile home. She had to scrounge around for food just to keep her self fed and to give her babies what little milk she could. 4 days later a good Samaritan found her and her puppies and brought them to rescue. Sadly after only 2 weeks 6 of her puppies succumbed to Puppy Strangles killing them. She was such a doting mother to all of them and even through all her sadness and the pain of losing 6 babies, she remained diligent and loving to her remaining 4 pups, always keeping a watchful eye on them. Sandy is a young loving affectionate yet playful girl. She has very good house manners and she is 100% house broke. Never having any accidents in the house ever! She is great around kids of all ages and sizes and good with other dogs. Sandy is Heart-worm negative and on all her monthly preventatives. Sandy would make a great addition to any family! OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible. If you are working with For The Love Of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue, the additional fee is $200 to cover transportation costs and the health certificate, which is required to cross state lines. Transport to other areas is dependent on location, fees, and availability of independent transport services. You are always welcome to pick up your new family member. We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes. We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3 organization. We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets. We do not adopt to 'outside only' homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets. All pets are completely vetted, up to date on all vaccines, and given rabies certificates. (Less)

URGET NEED!!!!!!!! The lady who owns Piper is a cancer patient and is having to relocate from south Alabama to Pennsylvania where she can be with family while taking cancer treatments and she cannot take Piper with her. She is terminal so she needs to know this sweet boy has a good home. She wants a fenced yard for Piper so he won't try to come back to the only home he's known. Sad situation. She has another dog already listed on here that is in the same situation, a Rottweiler/Shepherd mix that is 13 years old. Dogs don't have to go together but it would be nice if they were. This dog needs a home by Sept. 4 so time is short. I am posting ... (Read More)for my friend, Katie Foster who owns this dog. I can't take her dogs or I would, I already have too many dogs I have rescued. Please somebody out there help this precious lady and this sweet boy have a home that Katie will know is good for him. Time is short and it's somewhat of an emergency. Her information is listed below. Thank you in advance if you or someone you know can help this cancer patient out. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Alabama
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Teams of Catahoulas were once used to control feral pigs.
