Rescue Me ID: 16-05-27-00435Cookie (male)
Cookie is a 2 year old Brown Merle Catahoula that was picked up as a stray by Graham County Animal Control. he had a rope cord still attached to his neck that I cut off. I can't imagine how this dog must have been living. Cookie is gentle and sweet, he is used to being in the house and he has nice house manners. Cookie gets along with other dogs, he will be a great hiking or walking partner. He will be a great candidate for off leash work as he doesn't seem to have any desire to run off. Cookie is located in his foster home in South East Arizona. His foster mom takes frequent trips to Tucson and occasionally Phoenix for meet and greets Please come meet Cookie and give him the life he truly deserves. 602-316-8919 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-13-00449Abby (female)
Abby was one of our pups form an unplanned breeding. Her father was a purebred Leopard Catahoula Hound that we purchased from a breeder in Louisiana. She is almost 5 years old, very sweet loving temperament, settles down quickly loves to be inside but has been an outside dog for most of her life. Unfortunately because she has been outside a lot, she likes to dig. Her mother was a stray that came up to our ranch that we rescued (still have her). She was born and raised on the ranch until she decided to chase the adjacent rancher's cattle, he threatened to shoot her the next time he caught her so we moved her to our home in Mesa. Our ranch caretaker at the time did not property discipline or train her when she started this bad habit. Other than digging (I think if she had one on one attention and was in the home more she wouldn't dig) and chasing cows she has no other issues. We are selling our home in Mesa (downsizing into townhouse type), I still have 2 German Shepherds and her mother. We have 2 Great Pyrenees at the ranch, 15 horses, 2 goats, 2 cats, chickens. We are animal people and I just want to find her a good loving forever home, she has been with us since birth almost 5 years ago. She would make a wonderful companion for an older person or couple (60ish not 80ish) but also good with everybody. She weighs about 60 lbs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-06-00039Chadley (male)
Chadley is a 5 month old Corgie/Chi mix who Loves to play, and lounge in your lap. He is a super sweet long legged little goof ball who is scared of his own shadow, but once he remembers that his shadow is friendly he will stop being protective and begin to play!!! He IS neutered, he IS microchipped and he IS current on all other vaccinations. He has been raised so far with big dogs, small dogs, cats, young children, men and women. shy and silly at first, but warms up quickly!!! His adoption fee which includes all the above vetting and care is negotiable bc sadly he is currently stuck in boarding. The transition from a home setting to kennel has been very difficult for him... He NEEDS to go home to his forever ASAP!!! If your looking for a little guy to love hug and protect you forever, this is your little man!!! --602-531-0650 RE CHADLEY / CORGIE MIX PUP (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-13-00025Merlin (male)
Merlin is a 4 year old Catahoula/Shar Pei Mix who loves being outside and having his bummy scratched! Merlin was turned in to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control as stray and was placed on the euthanasia list for being human aggressive. A sweet boy that was bummed to be in the pound, knew sit and shake and rubbed up against the chainlink fence for love, we would have never guessed. Merlin is completely potty trained and crate trained. We are still working with him on a leash and a few other manners. He adores being outside and would stay out all day if it were up to him. He doesn't think he's a lap dog, which is good at 92 pounds! But he does like attention. He seems fine with other dogs of any size but hasn't been tested with cats. Due to his rating, we would only be comfortable with Merlin going to an adult-only household. Merlin is a great boy and is ready for a family to call his own! Merlin is neutered, current on Rabies, 4-1 and Bordatella vaccines and is microchipped. His adoption fee is $100. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Arizona
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
