Posting Grace Is a long shot and we know it but we have to try. Grace was abandoned on the streets as a baby by a very abusive owner. We know that she was abused due to the neighbors stories. She then spent the next two years on the streets being mistreated by the neighborhood kids. Only one person was kind to Grace and that was a lady named Mary who fed her every day for those two years but could never get close enough to catch her. County facilities tried to catch her and our own rescue tried and failed. After she gave birth to a litter of puppies on the street in July I told Mary to put the pups in the truck and as hoped Grace jumped in ... (Read More)after them. After two years Grace was now safe. But Now Mary is dying and we are urgently trying to find a safe place for her to live out her life in peace. The person who adopts Grace will have to understand that she has EXTREME fear issues. She tries to fight with other dogs because she is used to fighting for her life. She will not be allowed to be unaccompanied outside to go to the bathroom because she will run away. She will shake like a leaf and try to snap at you until she is used to you and then after that she will be a loving sweet girl. This is not your normal dog it will take someone with extra patience to adopt her. ONLY SERIOUS INQUIRES PLEASE!! (Less)

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

This beautiful puppy girl is Daria. She is about 6 months old and is possibly a Catahoula mix. She is a very sweet little girl, who had a rough start. She was running at large and didn't really trust people so had to be trapped but once she got to the shelter we found out she was a very friendly little girl. She has a lot of energy as most pups do and will probably need to be housetrained. She also needs some leash training as she hasn't been on one until she got here. She seems to be ok with other dogs and will should be good with kids, but since she's a stray we really don't have much info on her. She likes to play and has a good ... (Read More)personality.     Hi, I'm Duke. I'm a 3 yr old, male, Catahoula mix. My owner's brought me in to find a new home because they don't have a fenced yard and I kept breaking my chains and they couldn't keep me in and they were getting in trouble with animal control. I had young kids in my home and was always gentle and tolerant of them. I also had a female dog in my home, but my owners said I get along with all other dogs, but I'm not good with cats or chickens. I am housetrained and was allowed in the house to sleep at night in the daughter's bed, or in bad weather but otherwise I was tied up during the day in the yard. I have never been in a fenced yard ... (Read More)but if you have a 6 foot fence that should be sufficient to keep me in. My owners said I'm a good guard dog and that I also like to play fetch with balls or sticks. So if you're looking for a good dog that just needs a little training to make me a better dog then you should call the Benson Shelter at 520-586-3600. My adoption fee will be $30 to cover my neuter and vaccinations. (Less)

Khloe is currently being boarded at a vet's office because her owner can no longer care for her. She absolutely LOVES people and children, almost 4 years old, pittie/catahoula mix, smart as a whip and eager to please. She is spayed, up to date on shots, totally healthy, about 55 lbs and a big lap dog. She has been around little dogs and does great, but has never been around large dogs, she's an easy going gal, so we don't foresee any big dog issues, but a meet and greet would be best to ensure everyone gets along. It is unknown how she is with cats. Through no fault of her own she has lived in a cell at the vet for the last two months. ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Arizona
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
