**FOSTERED IN PHOENIX ARIZONA** This 80 pound girl is Looking for a home. She actually is in Boarding and she doesn't understand as she has been with them since she was a year old. She was a rescue dog. She now has not much exercise her yard she had is gone and no squirrels to stalk. She is sad. Family is living with other family members so this five year old girl is really lost and worried right now. She is sad and they have hit a rough spot financially and won't have a place for her for a year. She can't hug and kiss her children like she usually does. She is very gentle with little ones. She is good with adults, she is a perfect lady and companion and she is in the PRIME of her life at this age. She is NOT a PIT mix. Catahoulas can be brindle and she could be even purebred and very well might be. A lovely lovely kind dog. She might give chase to cats as she likes to run after squirrels. She lost her Minpin friend and she loved him. She has lost so much. She just is well rounded out, a nice dog for a family friend. PLEASE.. Christmas is lonely for her.. she needs a home soon. We don't want her as a Christmas gift but the gift is giving her a loving forever home and that is her gift she needs from an adopter. Please love Nellie and give her a forever home. INTERESTED?? Originally was rescued from Maricopa County Animal Control. Cole is said to be the sweetest dog with a Very mellow & affectionate personality! Typical boy who just wants to be pet and snuggle. Couch potato buddy...hint hint! Unlike most Catahoula pups, this guy doesnt say a peep! Coloe loves other dogs, (unsure on cats), and sweet with children. This guy loves walks, car rides, or any adventure you might need a buddy for! He is working on basic commands, crate trained and could always use some practice perfecting his leash skills! Isn't he stunning? Think he might fit right in with your family?! Email us for more information! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-09-00548Daria (female)
This beautiful puppy girl is Daria. She is about 6 months old and is possibly a Catahoula mix. She is a very sweet little girl, who had a rough start. She was running at large and didn't really trust people so had to be trapped but once she got to the shelter we found out she was a very friendly little girl. She has a lot of energy as most pups do and will probably need to be housetrained. She also needs some leash training as she hasn't been on one until she got here. She seems to be ok with other dogs and will should be good with kids, but since she's a stray we really don't have much info on her. She likes to play and has a good personality. If you are interested in Daria then please call the Benson Shelter at 520-586-3600. Her adoption fee will be $60 to cover her spay and vaccinations. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-06-00374Duke (male)
Hi, I'm Duke. I'm a 3 yr old, male, Catahoula mix. My owner's brought me in to find a new home because they don't have a fenced yard and I kept breaking my chains and they couldn't keep me in and they were getting in trouble with animal control. I had young kids in my home and was always gentle and tolerant of them. I also had a female dog in my home, but my owners said I get along with all other dogs, but I'm not good with cats or chickens. I am housetrained and was allowed in the house to sleep at night in the daughter's bed, or in bad weather but otherwise I was tied up during the day in the yard. I have never been in a fenced yard but if you have a 6 foot fence that should be sufficient to keep me in. My owners said I'm a good guard dog and that I also like to play fetch with balls or sticks. So if you're looking for a good dog that just needs a little training to make me a better dog then you should call the Benson Shelter at 520-586-3600. My adoption fee will be $30 to cover my neuter and vaccinations. (Less)

Animal ID: 13-12-08-00443Khloe (female)
Khloe is currently being boarded at a vet's office because her owner can no longer care for her. She absolutely LOVES people and children, almost 4 years old, pittie/catahoula mix, smart as a whip and eager to please. She is spayed, up to date on shots, totally healthy, about 55 lbs and a big lap dog. She has been around little dogs and does great, but has never been around large dogs, she's an easy going gal, so we don't foresee any big dog issues, but a meet and greet would be best to ensure everyone gets along. It is unknown how she is with cats. Through no fault of her own she has lived in a cell at the vet for the last two months. Please help me help Khloe find her forever home for the holidays! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Arizona
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
