Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed

My name is Rosie and I am a long legged and long snout Catahoula, Shepherd mix dog who loves to hike and run. I am very friendly with humans including kids. I sometimes don't like smaller dogs but for the most part keep it under control so long as they back off when told. Bigger dogs are fun!. I enjoy hiking, swimming, running, camping and eating. I still need some work eating around other dogs - but while I have been here at Pets Return Home I have only once growled at another dog for messing with my food in the past three weeks. Pets Return Home trainers and dogs don't let me get away with that here though - so I am learning it is ... (Read More)more fun to share.     Pete is a big love! Pete is only two years old and he is big, probably 60 pounds. Pete is a bit scared, he has been through a lot. He was in the shelter at Pinal County and then he came to our rescue in south east Arizona and he just doesn't know what is what. Pete needs to go into a home where he can feel secure and loved. Pete does very well with other dogs, he may like a home without small children as he is so scared and toddlers can be noisy and do scary things. Pete is located in South East Arizona, although his foster mom makes a trip to Tucson for meet and greets usually on Saturday. Please come meet this fabulous boy. ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Arizona
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

lnteresting Catahoula Trivia Low-Cost Arizona Spay & Neuter Clinics
Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Catahoulas are probably descended from the Nordic Wolfhound. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Teams of Catahoulas were once used to control feral pigs.
