My name is MR. BROWN - ID#A408592. I am a male, brown and white Catahoula Leopard Hound mix. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous....that's Mr Brown. But there is so much more to this wonderful canine. You might see him a little reserved in his kennel, but give him a chance to show you how great he is. The volunteers who have spent time with him say that he wants nothing more than to be with people and get snuggles and kisses. He loves to be petted. It makes him feel loved and safe. He has a curious nature and enjoys his time in the yard. Mr Brown did have a home but had to come to the shelter through no fault of his own. He's been here ... (Read More)since November 9 and at 2.5 years old would love to have a new start in life with a new family. Would you be that special one? (Less)

He also could be ready to win the title as best ball catcher in the planet! Jack would appreciate a home where he is the only dog so he can focus on his people. He also needs a home who is committed to continuing working with a trainer so that he continues his progress toward being all that he can be. Jack is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. Only adopters who can drive to the Irvine, CA are will be considered. He cannot be shipped to an adopter. (Less)

I love this dog with all my heart and have had her for most of her life, but she has become so protective of me that she does not tolerate the other animals (dog and cats)in the home and it has become miserable for everyone. She is very smart, VERY good with my hands on 4yr old son, and has no desire to hurt any animal on our farm. My only concern is she wants to be 'someone's' dog. If you are familiar with this bred you know what I mean. We have 2 cattle dogs who aren't willing to let her take us away. She has been wormed, given vaccines and nexguard. Bathed and ready to roll.Loves truck rides and walks off leash. Please feel free to contact me and I will gladly give you any info you ask.

She's also Super cuddly even though she's so big. Unfornately I can't keep her where I live now. I don't wanna take her to a shelter. I wanted that to be my last resort. I would rather find her a loving family and a great home.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in California
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
