IN EL CAJON CALIFORNIA, INTERESTED IN PENNY? Email for more videos and photos jj4@midrivers.com Also Go to www.jcldr.com , top of page find FORMS, under forms lurks the adopt application for our dogs.. fillable form, fill out an application on line and we will contact you both by email and by phone. No one is obligated by doing so but we need this to be the first good step to getting acquainted with you and see if our dog is THE MATCH. We want everyone, adopter and dogs to win 'FUREVER' Penny is a 50 pound Catahoula X Yellow Lab puppy at a year and a half. She was gotten to replace an old service dog for the family's son who has seizures. ... (Read More)She has bonded with him but he has not bonded with her. It is hard to start with a new service dog. The love for the old one gets in the way often as not. Penny needs someone to play with and one of her Old dog friends, is dying with cancer and the other one she is just too rowdy and too much puppy for her. They do well most of the time but when the senior female gets enough she will react and put her in her place and that causes a tiff that is good for no one. Penny being a Catahoula will stand her ground but does not start things. Because of the old dogs.. she needs a foster home or an adoptive home right away. Please.. she is sad because no one has time for her and she needs a friend she can play with. She loves to ride in a car .She does not like to swim much but will go in the water.. typical Catahoula.. more of a puddle dog. Loves to ride in a carShe is still a puppy but a fine one that needs more perimeters but has a good start. Foster or foster with intent to adopt we would also consider to ease things for the older dogs. The one with cancer is the first service dog so the family is quite stressed. OWNERS INPUT: Penny is now hilarious at a year and half. She learned at basic obedience class how to sit, off for down, wait for her treats perfectly still and take it from you easy. She is crate trained for when we leave with no anxiety and she is excited when you return. Just open the door and tell her 'I have to go bye-bye and will be back in a bit' and she will go right in. She enjoys a blanket and bone in the crate. She has been in our home with our 2 cats of 2 years old a male and female and enjoyed playing and taunting them. She know and listens well as she is very smart. In the past few days I have taught her to 'high five' and she has got that. She is very protective of her family and lets others that come to door if a stranger that unless you say 'its ok Penny' she wants to let the stranger know don't mess with her family. She plays with our 'older' male and female and steps back when told 'nice play' because she is younger and gets excited. She loves to ride in the car usually the rear seat. She knows 'up up' as a command for any seat such as the car or bed. She loves to snuggle and get praise and knows the command 'soft kiss' for a gentle lick of love to your face. She loves to go outside, knows the harness and gets excited for it to go on. At night she knows when bedtime is close and starts giving you hints its close. She will sleep right by you if you want, at the end of the bed, along the side on the floor or snoring right in your face. She snores sometimes quite loud and its hilarious, she has done since she was a pup. My son 18, has Epilepsy and he had a seizure the other day when I was not home. He awoke and Penny was barking and licking his face. She definitely is smart! She loves balls but has trouble sharing as she wants them all. She will share bones also but she likes to have her own. She knows 'potty or outside' as the door opens and she does her business. She will wake you up at night by licking you to let you know she has to go. If she is just wanting to go outside to play more while keeping you up and you know she was recently out just tell her 'No' and go back to sleep. She gets the message . She loves her treats and can catch them if tossed towards her in the air. Currently, she does not like a place where there are alot of dogs or commotion. so dog parks aren't likely a good fit. She just needs socialization and the time for her to adjust. Probably no small dog breeds. She plays with our dogs well, but with the breed plays around the neck, but she wants to rough play. I cue her to back off as our home has the older dogs. She has a tendency to snap at her treats which is why we tell her to 'wait' with 3 fingers up and bring the treat closer to her, she waits for the command 'ok' and she will be much gentler upon taking them. Penny is a wonderful and loving girl and we love her. I feel at this time she needs more room to play and many things that I can't give her at this time. I hope a wonderful new home will make her feel loved and complete she deserves it after a rough start as a pup. Thank you in advance (Less)

SENTRY IS FOSTERED IN VACAVILLE CAIFORNIA. Id you are interested in him the first good step is to go to www.jcldr.com and put in an application on line. No one is obligated but it is a good place to start. Sentry was found wandering the Sacramento country in California. Good samaritans tried to catch him but obvously he was scared by that attempt and so they live trapped him. He was kind and sweet and glad to have nice humans handling him and rode well in their car to safety. We were contacted and had a foster spot open for him. Foster Mom has cats and he does show interest in them but he calls off of them. He cannot be trusted ... (Read More)unsupervised with Cats. He is a loving dog that really wants to please but still a bit unsure of himself as a lot has happened to him. We did get him adopted out the the senior dog would not play with him and he needs a play buddy that is easy going and not shy nor uncertain. He did go to doggie day camp and played with both male and females his size, but has not been tested on little dogs and we hesitate to place him with little dogs. He is a little leash reactive sometimes but it again is because he is contained on leash and feels vulnerable. This can be worked with and we will help you with that once he settles into a home and gets secure. We do behavior issues.. He does not need a trainer or behaviorist. We know the breed and what to do with these issues. He really is a good dog and the past adopter loved him but because he needed a friend and they had a vinyl fence and didn't exercise nor did he have enough interaction with them and their dog, he got out and went looking for a buddy next door. Vinyl fences.. are easy for a dog to damage if they want out. He is kennel and crate broke and has never tried to get out. He was bored and new and needed more than they were able to give him. He is young, about 2, 3 or 4 the vet guesses. He wants to be stimulated and part of your ilfe, not left in a yard to his own resources. If you like him please do put in an application and we will start the process and see where it leads for you and Sentry. He isn't a failure.. so far humans have failed him. We want commitment and he wants time to get to know a new family. The other family only had him for four weeks and there were solutions but they did not want to have a dog with his needs. They were used to an older settled dog with minimal needs. He did well with their 10 year old grandson but we are saying no small children. They might overwhelm him. (Less)

WE DO NOT USE NOR SANCTION choke collars. Bell is not quite a senior. We do not consider a dog a senior until they reach 10 years old. She is 9 years old and very healthy and active. Loves hiking and water play and is a great dog. She is loyal and her owners ... (Read More)were very sad to have to give her up. She is good with older children but does has to have slow introductions to other dogs. She is fine with most once she gets to know them but we would really like to see her the only dog. She would be a great companion dog for someone that loves to give attention over her. She needs that. She is missing her family. Seniors have so much to offer.. all the puppy silliness and struggling over with. She will bring someone some good comfort and fun. She has some years left and we would love to see someone wanting this dog. To not want her would be a real shame. Please give Bell a new chance to spend her last years in comfort and with a friend to share her life with. She deserves this and I have a feeling whoever gets her will feel rich indeed to have had time with her. Spayed, Up to date on Vaccs, HW negative. PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in California
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

lnteresting Catahoula Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Catahoulas are probably descended from the Nordic Wolfhound. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Teams of Catahoulas were once used to control feral pigs.
