Rescue Me ID: 16-01-28-00502Bella (female)
Come out to Rescue Ranch and meet Bella! She is a people and dog loving young (6 months old) cattle dog X Catahoula mix. She loves to play ball and play with her toys. She is super attentive and just slightly on the submissive side and wanting to please. Of course she still has plenty of puppy energy and antics to bring you smiles and help you learn and grow together. She is just about ready to go home after her spay appointment but it is not too soon to come and meet her and fill out an application. Thanks again to our photographer Sarah Gross for her time and expertise in capturing Bella's spirit.

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-19-00026Wylie (male)
Wylie is a very sweet, calm, easy going, 7 year old male, who weighs approximately 50 lbs. He is very social with all people and all dogs. He has been a lovely pet for a young family, but they were just too busy for him. Wylie was living in a home with two children, ages 2 and 4, a Pomeranian dog and two cats who loved rubbing up against him. However, he was just introduced to 2 cats at his foster home, and will chase if they run. If they are still, he is fine with them. As with any dog, he just needs a loving home, where his people have the time to interact with him, take him for walks, involve him in their everyday activities, and give him the mental and physical stimulation that he needs. Wylie is an extremely loving, loyal boy, who wants to please his family. He is NOT a dominant or alpha dog, and looks for your lead and direction. If he understands what you want, he will try to do it. He learns and trains easily, and is up for being a part of any activity you are involved with. Wylie is also housebroken. He loves going for walks on a leash, but needs some running to get enough exercise each day. Wylie loves to run and play with other dogs and with children. He also is big on playing fetch (with a ball or stick), or just going hiking or on an adventure with his person. Before the children and when his person had time for him, Wylie adored sitting next to his person on rides in the truck, going out on a boat, and running around a ranch. While this boy can be playful when outside, when in the house, he is calm and knows how to relax. If left alone all day and bored, he may attempt to leave his property in search of playmates, and something to do. Wylie is NOT a big barker, but he will do so when he is excitedly playing or having fun, or if he learns that he gets to go for a ride in the truck. After being alone all day, when Wylie's people come home or finally let him inside, he may also bark out of sheer joy. And, if someone is approaching or outside of the house, Wylie will also let out a bark to alert you that someone is coming. This dog would do very well in a multiple pet home situation, where he can play and have the companionship of adults, children, dogs and cats. Wylie is a bright boy and if with other dogs, he will learn by their example. We are seeking a new home for Wylie, where he can get the love, attention and activity he craves and deserves. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-09-00333Chino (female)
Chino is a 3 year old female, Catahoula Leopard Dog/unknown mix. She is very sweet and intelligent. She would be perfect for a man/woman who would like a dog to go with them everywhere they go. She loves traveling (will jump right up into our lifted truck if the tailgate is down!) and her previous owner was a young man in the construction trade who took her with him all day long. We got her as a friend, play mate for our high energy lab. She came from a local Mennonite family whose property had no fence in hopes that she would stay in our cross-fenced country property. However, she digs out under the wire and is chasing local cattle and chickens. This could cost her her life in our rural community. We would NOT give her up except for this. She would love to be trained for hunting or ranching if you have the time and inclination. She's very affectionate and gets along with other dogs - but it's good to have a supervised introduction. She is naturally a more dominant dog, but our giant lab mix male quickly established his dominance and she's great with him. She is due for shots but our vet left the area. (Less)

TO ADOPT CROW PLEASE VISIT http://www.hprescue.org Crow is a very easy-going boy. He walks perfectly on a leash and is very well crate-trained. He's great with dogs and kids but unknown with cats. Crow is not a needy dog; he's happy to follow you around and be part of activities but also happy to lay on his bed and watch you. He enjoys hikes but is not an overly active dog that needs jogs or hikes on a daily. He also likes park visits. Crow is happiest when plodding around minding his own business. He's an independent dog that is plenty happy doing his own thing or laying on your feet on the couch. He's a very good boy and non-reactive, which is helpful for city living. He'd do swell in an apartment situation but will also be plenty happy with a yard to roam around. To apply to adopt Crow please visit http://www.hprescue.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-09-00619Olive (female)
Olive is a Catahoula-Boxer mix, located in Los Angeles, Ca. She was rescued from the jungle on Maui, Hawaii. When she was found, she had a collar, but no tags, and was emaciated. Her current owners took her to the Maui Humane Society and over the next two months, she regained her weight health, but went downhill emotionally and wouldn't connect with any people. She was scheduled for euthanasia when the HS called the family who found her, and they brought her to California. Her life has changed dramatically in the last 2 years. She is very attatched to the 8 year old child of the home, as well as the parents and others commonly in the home. She gets along great with other dogs, and loves to run and play with them. But, she has become over protective and reactive and is unsuitable for a home with the kids of the neighborhood running in and out. The family is uneasy because of her over protective behavior and Olive needs to be rehomed immediately. If there is anyone familiar with Catahoula traits and is able and willing to take this otherwise sweet dog on and work with her to try to safely turn things around, please get in touch. She is approximately 5 years old, spayed, chipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She will take some affection and work, but everyone hopes that it can be turned around. I have more detail about her and the protective incidents if someone is considering here and wants to have a private conversation about her. Screening will take place, as we do not want her falling into a bad situation. If she is to have a chance we want a legitimate chance for her. I am posting here with the hopes that someone is willing to give it to her. There are no plans to take her to a shelter, but if no home is found, euthanasia is likely. If you have any interest, please contact us. She is out of time. (Less)

TO ACQUIRE AN ADOPT APPLICATION OR MORE INFO PLEASE CONTACT Janeen Jackson firstname.lastname@example.org NO ONE IS OBLIGATED BY DOING SO BUT IT IS A FIRST RIGHT STEP TOWARDS FINDING OUT IF HE IS A MATCH FOR YOU AND YOURS. ***BIO*** CATAHOULA X RETRIEVER, maybe a little Dane in the mix. He is really tall and leggy. Jackson is fostered in COARSGOLD CALIFORNIA. He showed interest in the Kitties at first because all was new and he is still basically pretty much a puppy. He is fine now. He hasn't bothered her other pets, including chickens. He wants to be WITH his people. He will go searching for his family if you leave him unattended but his goal is to be with YOU. He will try to dig out to get back with you. He loves the poodle friend he has made there and shares a bed with the poodle. This is ONE NICE DOG. He needs a family that will exercise him and make him very much a part of the family. He is good with little dogs as well. Black dogs are in abundance and he was scheduled to be euthanized and we took him out at the very last 11th hour basically. What a shame if this dog had been euthanized. VERY NICE BOY. He had been adopted from the shelter when a pup and his family didn't come get him when he got in the shelter again. Was he lonesome and got out? Likely. He was very sad but he has blossomed in foster care. A LOYAL dog. Heartworm NEGATIVE as well. We aren't sure how he is with small small children but he is good with older folks. We feel he will do fine as he wants to please and wants to learn, as long as children aren't allowed to be rough and rowdy and all over him. We can't say for sure. We will update as time goes by here and we learn more. In the mean time this great dog wants a forever commitment? Can you give him that? He is with our RESCUE and an adopt application will be required so everyone wins with a match. Will Jackson be your forever friend? Black is glossy, black is beautiful. We have him on a great food and his turn around has been terrific. He has the most beautiful liquid brown eyes and they are pleading to belong. He is not an excessive barker, will not tear up your house if he has toys to play with. (Less)

WITH JANEEN'S CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOG RESCUE INC 406-323-3519**FOSTERED IN CA** AN ADOPT APPLICATION CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAILING email@example.com. NO ONE IS OBLIGATED BUT IT IS A RIGHT FIRST STEP TO FINDING OUT IF ZOEY IS FOR YOU. **HER BIO from her family** ZOEY IS DEAF! BUT WHAT A LOVELY 7 YEAR OLD SHE IS. She has gotten caught in dire family circumstances where partners split and health and jobs made it impossible for family to keep her. She is staying with a temp foster and she must find a new home. 7 years old is in her prime. She is NOT a senior. She is full of vim and vigor. She is full of personality and willingness to please. She hikes and stays near her owner, she does not destroy anything when left in the house. She knows signs, she is good with older children. She is NOT good with other dogs and this is often the case with deaf dogs.. dogs misread them and they misread others and deaf dogs are careful as they compensate for their handicap. Now do not tell her she is handicapped. She does not realize it. She loves to play ball and she would make a good running companion on leash. This girl is NICE.. one of the nicest special needs we have had. ONE OF MANY WE HAVE HAD THAT IS SO NICE. She needs a commitment and forever please. There is more I can share with you and hoping for videos to come soon. Please contact me if you want to help Zoey. She is healthy, spayed and up to date on vaccs. She wants to belong again as she misses her family. They had her since she was a pup. She weighs about 40 pounds so that is a nice size and usually dogs that size have more years to share than a much larger framed dog.. but she will give you what she has and you won't be sorry. THIS DOG IS WITH JANEEN'S CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOG RESCUE INC. 406-323-3519. AN ADOPT APPLICATION MAY BE OBTAINED BY EMAILING firstname.lastname@example.org NO ONE IS OBLIGATED BY FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION BUT IT IS A GOOD FIRST STEP TO FINDING OUT IF THIS DOG IS A MATCH FOR YOU AND YOURS. * HIS BIO from his foster Mom ** ** FOSTERED IN RIO OSO CALIFORNIA ** Louie is a six year old PUREBRED Catahoula. Six year olds are beyond the puppy stage; settled and in the very prime of their lives. He is black and gorgeous, don't let the hide color take away from what and who he really is. He is very smart, listens and learns quickly. When doing obedience he is very light handed and very willing to please you. Loves to be active and very house broken. He is a pleasure to work with and be with. Foster Mom believes Louie would make a wonderful "COMPANION DOG"; (not a service dog) a dog that would be sensitive to special needs. He is so loyal and sensitive and wants to be with his people he cares for. Will do very well with a couple with no kids and active. No problem with farm animals. Not sure about cats and small dogs. Louie is dominant so he needs to have a very moderately friendly fun loving female as a companion. Not a timid one and definitely not good with other male dogs. He would be best as an only dog or with one dog rather than a large pack. We are saying no children please. He is loving and wonderful and the foster family really really like him. |PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in California|
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
