Animal ID: A2231Dixie (female)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, My name is Dixie and I am a 45lb Catahoula Leopard Dog/ Bassett Hound Mix. I am about a year old and I am fully grown. I very much enjoy people and LOVE affection, although I tend be a bit submissive when it comes to new people; I warm up quickly. I am okay with most dogs, but I crave lots of attention. I love to play and go on long walks! I'm taller than a normal Bassett Hound and would make a GREAT hiking partner. I am spayed and up to date on all my vaccinations, and my adoption fee is $250, which comes with a 2-week trial period. If you would like to meet me please contact No Hound Unhomed at 719-244-2208 or come meet me at ... (Read More)Camp Bow Wow Colorado Springs Central! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-15-00012Scout (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We have had Scout since he was 9 weeks old. He hasn't shown aggression to our two kids, who are 3 and 8, but we have noticed his inability to regulate his energy. He recently was at the dog park and was bitten by a large dog. We took him to the vet, payed for his surgery, and he's now on the mend. We aren't looking to rehome him to cover any of those costs, we feel the need to post an adoption fee to make sure the applicant is serious when considering his adoption. We want him to be happy, and we don't think he's happy here. He would thrive on a farm, or with a very active person who has lots of time for hiking. He's a good boy and we ... (Read More)love him. We also know there is a better family out there for him. Thanks so much! (Less)

Beautiful, smart, wonderful girl. She is fine with our male cocker spaniel. She is ok with some dogs but not with others. Would prefer someone close by that we can get her used to you and the new home. She needs a lot of space, a job to do and someone to love on her. She is house broke and crate trained for sleeping at night. Great running companion! Loves our kiddos as well as the neighbors. If you have no knowledge of this breed please do not contact...she needs experience in an owner. We will give her to the right home for free along with her crate. PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Colorado
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
