I have a Catahoula/German Short Hair Haired/Bluetick Hound/ mix. He came from the Paulding County Animal Shelter in Dallas, Ga. He was adopted and then 3 weeks later he was found roaming the streets. We tracked down the owner and he just didn't want him anymore. So, I found someone to hold on to him for a while. Trying to find him a suitable home or rescue. I have had him completely vetted. He is a great dog. Good with other dogs, good with kids. Can you please help me!!!

Oakley is a 8 month old cuddle bug. He did not have a great life so far, and grew up mostly in a kennel. Now he is learning what life is like outside of chain link. He is a playful boy that still has puppy tendencies but for the most part he is a calm, collected house dog!! He is crate trained, mostly house broke, gets along with most other dogs and kids. Untested with cats, can test if needed. He LOVES to be petted and loved on, will chase a ball, is good around horses and doesn't chase them. He is SMART and learning basic obedience quickly! He just needs a family to continue to teach him things and give him love! Adoption fee $200 - ... (Read More)fully vetted (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Georgia
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

lnteresting Catahoula Trivia Low-Cost Georgia Spay & Neuter Clinics
Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Catahoulas are probably descended from the Nordic Wolfhound. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Teams of Catahoulas were once used to control feral pigs. Catahoulas are especially well suited to boar hunting.
