Rescue Me ID: 14-07-10-00381Brickle (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Brickle! This darling is an 11-13 month old male Catahoula mix. Brickle is very submissive and friendly with people. He's about 35 lbs. He's a very gentle boy nearly house trained (still has a few accidents) and very food motivated. A real silly love bug of a boy who has come so far since being rescued from the shelter (he wouldn't walk or look you in the eye he was so afraid of people). Great with all people, but Brickle might do better with kids older than 5 years of age. Interested applicants or fosters, please email me: RuffRescueFoster@gmail.com

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-05-00004Lou (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Deaf, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Our sweet boy doesn't get along with our new baby, so as much as we love him, we can no longer keep him. He MUST go to a loving home, though - he'd be ideal for someone who doesn't have other dogs or children living in/over to their house.

Our sweet Amaya. That smile, those eyes... that hug she gives to everyone just to let them know how much she loves them... This girl is a heart melter to the core. She is wonderful in the house, happy and calm. She would do best in a home with older children (younger kids stress her out a bit) and one or two other dogs. If you love the idea of having a big, hardy dog but prefer a softy personality she is the girl for you. Email us at TeamSKRescue@gmail.com and we will gladly send you an application.

Darla is terrified. Flattens to the ground when approached despite wagging tail at a distance from people. Newly arrived from Animal Control where she was listed for euthanasia. Just a baby, Darla is the 5 months old. Staff is gently working with her to reinforce that there is nothing of which she should be afraid. She is going to be a big girl.

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

A loving home seems to always be just out of reach for Beanie. Many inquiries and the few that come to visit decide against her. Beanie has never had a home. She has grown up in the shelter from the age of 16 weeks and knows only life in a concrete run. She is the longest resident of the shelter having been there over two years. Despite her beautiful brindle coat and pretty white feet, no one ever looks at Beanie for long. Her soft brown eyes hold the knowledge that this may be the only life she will ever have. Though she shows great love for the volunteers and staff that she knows and trusts, patience will be required for her to build that ... (Read More)trust in someone new until she is secure enough to fully offer them the love that will come. She has no idea that life can be different from the often chaotic environment of the shelter. Beanie has a sponsor whose donation has reduced her adoption fee to $25. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Georgia
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
