|Rescue Me ID: 17-07-20-00146Loki (female)|
Meet Loki! Loki is a 3 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog, 65-70 lbs, housebroken, obedient, affectionate, and protective. She likes to walk on her slip lead and run free off-leash. She's been a great family dog for us until recently when my two year old did something to cause her to bite him (yes, he is okay, and it is minor only requiring one stitch). She's never been aggressive towards him before. She will be a great match for a household of adults or with older children, particularly if there is lots of room to run and play. She loves attention and cuddles. She's never chewed anything up and doesn't particularly care for toys. She comes with a large microfiber/memory foam bed, large crate, leashes/collars, and about 15 lbs of dog food. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00243Reggie (male)|
Meet Reggie. This handsome guy with the best ears is a 5-year-old Catahoula mix. Reggie is a sweet, sweet boy who loves to cuddle and meet new people. He often looks way more serious than he really is--Reggie can be very playful and silly too. Reggie is currently fostered with other dogs and does great. There is one dog that is probably too similar in personality that he doesn't jive well with. In general he needs a slow introduction and then warms up pretty quickly after that. He ignores cats completely. Of course the ones he has been around have also ignored him too. Reggie hasn't had much experience with small children, so we would recommend kids 10+ just to be on the safe side. Although Reggie is a snuggle baby, he also loves to run and play in the back yard with his other dog buddies. Depending on the day or mood, Reggie might be considered a medium-high energy kind of guy. In his forever home, where he will be able to get a little more individualized attention, we suspect that he will be a little more low key. Reggie is decent on leash and rides well in the car. Reggie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and well behaved in his crate. If you would like to offer Reggie a forever home please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. His adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
