**FOSTERED IN KY (TRANSPORT LONG DISTANCE CAN BE DISCUSSED)Better photos and a video coming. She needs help now. If interested please contact us for an adopt application (no one is obligated but first good step) **Honey is a traditional brown/blue merle Catahoula mis. She is 5 years young, spayed, up to date on shots and Rabies, house broken, crate trained. Honey was rescued from an Animal Control Shelter in Auburn Alabama in 2010. She was almost one year old when we pulled her. She lived with us and our dogs. The transition did not go great, but she adjusted well and proper introductions and a bit of time. Honey was adopted in late 2010 by a family with 2 small children (ages 3 and 5) at the time. She was the only dog in the family until about 18 months ago, when an abandoned dog (very small beagle) was added to the mix. She did very well and became the leader of the two of them. She loves to go on long walks, both on and off leash, and walks very well. She went to basic and advanced training with 'The Developing Canine'. Honey loves to play fetch and will continue to chase a ball until you are tired. She has been trained not to go on the furniture and bed, but loves to be invited up to snuggle. The only downside to Honey is that she is not submissive type with other dogs that are dominant. That is why she likes the smaller dog. She is unsure of herself and so she puts on a front for the ones that intimidate her. She needs a medium small friendly happy go luck male preferably for her friend and playmate. The reason her owner is rehoming her is because her Mother is ill in Germany and she has to go care for her and cannot take the dogs with her. We are under a time limit so please lets find Honey a wonderful home that can be forever. LOCATED IN KENTUCKY but a transport East is possible. She won't do well if she has to be placed by her owner in a shelter. We are taking it on us to try to find a new home for Honey. 5 years is a good age.. over the hump of crazy teenage puppy days and maturing nicely, in her prime. (Less)

Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
