White w/ some brown on ears and backside. Very loving and full of life. Unfortunately doesn't do well with cats or small dogs. Unfortunately due to our work schedules we can't give him the time he needs. we resuced him from the side of the road with the intention of making him a part of our family. We soon learned he would be too much dog for our household. We don't want him to go to any old home. We want him to go to a loving and caring home.

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jolie is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. She's inquisitive, loving and playful. I rescued her from a kill shelter and she was heart worm positive. She is now happy and healthy and heart worm free. I am looking for a home for her that will be able to give her more attention than I am currently able to give. Job changes and life changes have forced me to make this decision. Currently she is kenneled outside with my Australian Shepherd, who I have had for two years longer and will be bringing inside. I am looking for a home that will allow her to come inside, preferable also a fenced in area for her.

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-16-00497Dakota (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Dakota is a 4-5 year old Catahoula mix I rescued from a high kill shelter in Louisiana. I was told by someone who recognized him that he'd lived as a stray in her neighborhood for years, but despite that he's got a wonderful disposition! Unfortunately, because of this he is heartworm positive. He is current on his 6 month Proheart vaccination to kill off adult worms and will begin treatment to rid himself of heartworms after picking up a little more weight and being neutered. He is not in any danger of going back to the shelter and has a place with me as long as he needs one, but I think he would be happiest as the only dog of the house ... (Read More)(currently lives with 2 small dogs and 2 cats). He is tolerant with most dogs, but does guard treats and food. This is normal behavior of a stray and could be corrected over time with the proper supervision and introductions. He has not shown any aggression to people at all and likes men and children! He is very affectionate and doesn't seem to be aware of his size, so he would be best with children 8+. He's pretty low key for a cur and seems happiest just lying around on the couch. (Less)

She's fun, playful, and devoted. She loves to snuggle! She's a great guard dog and very loving. She also enjoys playing dress up and running in wide open spaces on occasion. She was a rescue at around a year old. She's currently around 5 years old, and we think she is part Catahoula and part Whippet. She weighs approximately 40 pounds and is up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm/flea medication. Mid-City Vet can provide all of her health and medical records. She's very adaptable to her environment, and always greets you with a tail wag and a kiss. She's low maintenance and only requires a walk every once and a while. She also ... (Read More)gets along well with other dogs big or small after a brief introduction. She comes with her 2 dog beds, harness, leash, collar, remainder of heartworm/flea pills, a couple of paid for doggie daycare days at Camp Bow Wow, and various toys to the right person in the right loving home.     THIS DOG IS WITH JANEEN'S CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOG RESCUE INC. 406-323-3519. AN ADOPT APPLICATION MAY BE ACQUIRED BY EMAILING jj4@midrivers.com NO ONE IS OBLIGATED BY FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION BUT IT IS THE FIRST RIGHT STEP TO SEE IF HE MAY BE A MATCH FOR YOU. * HIS BIO from Foster Mom* Judge (Obi) was pulled from a very high kill shelter on July 13, 2015. He was very shy and was not sure of people at all. He hid under a desk at the office where we first took him. Fast forward to November 28, 2015 On this Louisiana Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, we are very thankful for this beautiful Catahoula boy and who he is today. Very bright ... (Read More)eyed, happy and outgoing. He sure is not looking for cover but has a joy of life that is around him. He loves a big tennis shoe, wanting you to throw it and if you don't he will toss it into the air on his own and catch. When he came from the shelter, he did not know how to play with out being mouthy and jumping on me. Now he is so much better. He loves to run around with a Huge black lab. If introduced correctly, he would like to play with others. If a dog is aggressive to him, he will not back down. We are not sure about small dogs. He is fair with a leash. Judge is crate trained and does not bark when left. He eats well and is not food aggressive with people. He eats alone as do all my fosters. Not sure about cats. I have an old cat and he has left him alone when together. If a cat runs, I am not sure how he would respond. Adapting and adjusting very quickly. He loves all attention that is given to him. Judge is heart worm positive and is being treated with a slow kill protocol at this time. Because of his zest for life, this is the safest method of treatment for Judge as per veterinarians advice. He was given a month of Doxycycline and put on a monthly HW preventative. Heartguard Plus 100# brown card. Judge is neutered and up to date on all shots. He is microchipped as Obi which was his shelter name. Does this boy TUG on your heart? We hope so. He deserves forever commitment and long distance transport and adopters can be discussed. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Louisiana
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Louisiana if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
