Rosco, I've had him since he was a pup. When I got him he was papered as an Australian shapers. Which made training him very hard. He ended up being over donated by my then husband.I didn't find out he was a catahoula until about 2 years ago. So he has proved to be set in his ways. He seems more at ease around women some men he really likes. He is ok with kids as long as they don't run, or have high energy. He has been fine with my 2 children but not so good with other kids. He tends to heard them and nip at them. When it come to the home, he can be a very naughty boy. He will chew everything when left alone. He has also destroyed a kennel ... (Read More)or 2. When I leave the house he get put on super lock down. He does have a bite history. He has been rehomed once and he was brought back because he didn't get along with the man of the house. He needs someone who can spend time with him. And discipline him properly . to me, he has been very loving and loyal. My significant other was the one bite that broke skin and since he had been in a mission to destroy everything of hers. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Michigan
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Teams of Catahoulas were once used to control feral pigs. Catahoulas are especially well suited to boar hunting.
