This handsome guy is Monty. He is a 2 year old, 50lb Lab/Catahoula blend. Monty is very shy at first in new situations. He would do best in a quieter home where someone could give him the time and patience he needs to come out of his shell. Once he does - and gets to know you he listens to all you say and is full of playfullness and kisses. Monty loves other dogs and although he is not fostered with cats, we suspect he would do just fine. A child free home would probably be best. Not because Monty isn't super friendly - he is. It is because he does get nervous in new situations and children bring a lot of that to the table. Monty is crate ... (Read More)and house trained, ok on leash and very obedient. Due to skittishness with new things, a physically fenced in yard would be best for this handsome boy. This dog will be a real gem for the person who is willing to put in a little patience and time. In return they will get great and loyal dog. If you like what you have read here, please send an inquiry today! Monty is fully vetted and microchipped. (Less)

Hi! I am Chance & I'm about 2 years old & 58 lbs! I am a very friendly boy that loves to take walks, run & fetch the ball & just be with my human. I get along with other dogs but need to be introduced properly. I haven't been around kitties, so I am not sure if we are friends. I was rescued while running on the street & nobody would say they were my owner so rescue took me in & are getting me ready for my forever home. When I was first seen by the Vet, it was discovered that I was Heartworm positive but it was caught early & I am cured. The Vet took good care of me & gave me treatment & I am all finished now & clear. I am ready for my ... (Read More)forever home! I am also up to date on my vaccines, neutered & crate-trained & microchipped. I am a great boy with a good temperament. I really want to be in my forever home! Please take a chance on me! Love, Chance Streethearts Animal Rescue always strives to find the very best homes for our rescue dogs, fitting them to the right potential new owner. We take care of all their vetting & medical needs prior to being available for adoption. The breed we post is most often pure speculation from the dog's appearance & traits & could not be truly identified accurately without a DNA test. We operate from donations only & always welcome any financial help anyone can offer to assist with the care of these misplaced dogs needs. PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Michigan
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

lnteresting Catahoula Trivia Low-Cost Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinics
Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Catahoulas are probably descended from the Nordic Wolfhound. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Catahoulas are especially well suited to boar hunting.
