Rescue Me ID: 17-08-09-00654Jax (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jax has been with me for almost a year. He has graduated from two separate obedience training courses. So he knows a lot of tricks and is very well mannered! He likes to go for runs/walks, will play some fetch, and enjoys rides on the pontoon! He absolutely loves all people and is great with children. I have introduced him to cats and he shows some interest but listens when told to 'leave it'. The reason why I can no longer keep him is because I am moving and he does not get along with most other larger breed dogs. However he does live with a brown lab and has learned to get along like siblings. He doesn't seem to have an issue with ... (Read More)submissive or smaller sized dogs. Jax loves his people and uses his big head to cuddle up next to you whenever he can. He's extremely affectionate and has a huge heart which makes rehoming him a very difficult thing to do. Looking for a family or person who can look beyond his dominant nature and give him a forever place to call home. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Minnesota
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Minnesota if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
