Meet Van Gogh, He is a 12-week-old Catahoula Leopard Dog. it's hard to find the right words to describe this little man's personality, except to say unbelievably sweet-natured lovebug. He is so attentive to his human that you will completely forget at times that he is deaf. Still unsure whether he can hear high pitch, as I think he can. He loves to play with his furry foster siblings and he does it in the most adorable and sweet way. He's not a crazy, nippy puppy. He bounces towards them and then falls into a play bow in their face, barks once and hops off looking back to see if he's enticed them to chase, if not, he tries again. He's pee ... He amazed everyone at Petco the other day when he fell asleep in my arms upside down, head lolling, and he stayed that way for 45 mins, even when people came up to pet him. He absolutely adores children and everyone he meets. (Less)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

River has an old injury to her front leg but it doesn't slow her down! She is super sweet and loves cuddling in bed. She would love a fenced yard for playing ball and sunbathing. She loves other dogs, cats are unknown at this point. Great with kids!. She would excel as a therapy dog! She will fit into so many lifestyles, she's such a laid back girl. But her family will have to help her regulate the amount of activity she puts on her 'flipper foot' each day. She's very good at it herself so it won't take much! No walks on pavement or other hard surfaces, but she can easily do a mile long hike on soft grassy surfaces.

Tex is a two year old Catahoula which is a working breed dog. He is super intelligent, loves people, very affectionate and needs a family who will make sure he has something productive to do every day. He would make a superb running or speed walking partner. We advise that very young children might be knocked down because he is so high energy so older children are preferred. No cats for Tex! Tex is currently being fostered in Houston Texas and will travel to Lake Placid, NY at the end of May/beginning of June. PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in New York
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
