Folks....call me super sonic, but I can hear an open lap calling me from a mile away! My name is Lorie, and I'm a 6 month old, 32 lb Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. Looking at me now, I bet you can't believe that I was found lost and all alone on a SC street, starving and hairless. I'm definitely one pup who is so grateful for being saved, so I'm going to happily repay you for the rest of my life. My one and only goal in life is to please my people and make them happy. I'm easygoing, calm, friendly, and eager to listen to my family. I'm a huge fan of water (a kiddie pool will do very nicely for me!), and I've always been surrounded by kids and ... If you want to be the family to love me for the rest of my life, please submit an app: Www.OlliesAngelsAnimalRescue.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-23-00440SkeeZicks (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

How such a gentle, laid back soul like SkeeZicks with one blue eye got overlooked at a shelter is beyond me - but he was a last minute save. The shelter staff loved him so much that they teared up when's they got to watch him walk out of the building on what was supposed to be his last day. The staff named him SkeeZicks, a term from days gone by that was affectionately used to call children 'rascals', and it's just so funny that we had to keep it! SkeeZicks is good with everyone and everything (but might chase a cat I feel the opportunity arose...). He'll try to play and keep up with the younger members of the household, but is always ...     Sonic is just so very handsome!! Everyone who meets him just falls in love. He's like an eight year old boy - full of youthful enthusiasm yet still cuddly and adorable! He's mostly housetrained, but does still have an occasional accident. Sonic adores kids and adults alike, and gets along great with all dogs. He is very respectful of the pack hierarchy! Sonic is around a year old and 50lbs, he may fill out to around 60lbs. He has the most adorable naturally bobbed tail too! He's fully vetted and ready to go home! Rescue Me ID: 17-04-09-00401Ronin (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Gorgeous Ronin was dropped off alongside Nook, our heartworm positive white shepherd. This boy is the product of double merle breeding - when an irresponsible breeder mates two merle dogs there a recessive condition emerges in a few pups that can result in hearing and/or vision impairments. Ronin is deaf, but he doesn't let that slow him down one bit. Ronin is a 1-2 year old happy boy that will need a fenced in yard so that he has a safe area to play. He will not be available until May. Please email barkingbackrescue@gmail.com for an app! Ronin is great with other dogs, but has NOT been cat or kid tested.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in New York
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

lnteresting Catahoula Trivia Low-Cost New York Spay & Neuter Clinics
Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Catahoulas are probably descended from the Nordic Wolfhound. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Catahoulas are especially well suited to boar hunting.
