Rescue Me ID: 14-11-11-00763Velvet (female)

Catahoula    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs Vaccinations

Velvet is a 6 1/2 month old Blue Nose Pitbull (to the best of my knowledge) she is a pure breed. We brought Velvet into our home when she was just 5 weeks old and have loved her unconditionally. Due to financial problems as well as our current living arrangements we are unable to keep her with us. Although it breaks our hearts we are in desperate need of a loving family who will love and care for her unconditionally. She's loving and protective and loves to cuddle. She adores her squeaky chicken and likes to go for runs. Velvet is a very sweet puppy and everyday we learn something new about her. If you would like any more information ...     Komatsu was born about June 11, 2013 and weighs about 55 lbs. He's been good with the other dogs and wonderful with all the humans that he has met. He sure is a beauty! All our dogs from the south have been tested for heart worm. This dog's life was spared due to our incredible FACEBOOK FANS!!!!! An e-mail came to JR begging us to help the southern shelter just a few hours before they were to be killed! Money has been a little tight around here and I (Joye) knew we didn't have the financial means to make the trip that tends to run about $800.00. But, you all came through and we were able to maximize the trip to 19 dogs out of ... (Read More)Kentucky along with a side trip to West Virginia!!! Thank you to Susan & Denise for making this LONG journey and to Katie for meeting them here after midnight to help unload. To everyone that made this happen - THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Less)

TO APPLY TO ADOPT THIS ANIMAL, VISIT WWW.SAFEATLAST.NET Beautiful Miracle came to us from rescue workers in KY. She is aptly named -- she was rescued from under a church foundation and was is rough shape when she was found. She was so starved that all of her bones were sticking out horribly - and, beyond that, it appears she had been physically abused. But, that was then, and this is now, and Miracle's past is all behind her.... She has done fabulously in foster care, and has made incredible strides each day. This girl is a true Miracle! When I first met her, she came right up to me and ever so gently put her little paw up against my ... (Read More)leg to get some loving. Miracle gets along well with all and is an absolute love-bug. She LOVES one-on-one attention and is such an affectionate girl. She is also gorgeous -- this blue-eyed/brown-eyed beauty has the softest coat and beautiful merle markings on her back. What can we say -- Miracle is lovely inside and out!! And what she would love most of all is to have a family of her very own where she will be showered with love for all of her days. Miracle is UTD on her shots, spayed, and HW negative. Our best assessment is that she is a beagle/catahoula mix and is between 1 and 2 yrs old. Currently, she weighs about 25 lbs. Do you have a place in your heart and home for this beautiful girl? If you do, we would love to hear from you. If you are interested in providing Miracle with a responsible, loving, committed home for her whole life - no matter what may lie ahead in yours - please register with us on our website (on When you receive your password, then log back on to complete the online adoption application (under Forms/Applications on the lefthand side of our homepage). Our process is very straightforward, but it does involve a phone interview, reference checks, and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $400 also applies. Of course, if you have any questions, please email us at We are happy to assist. Thank you for wanting to make THE difference in this sweet girl's life. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Juno is a 4 year old catahoula mix who was adopted from a shelter when she was a puppy. She is a very shy dog and it takes time for her to warm up to people. She needs a new home because she has been showing signs of aggression towards my 2 year old son. She would need to go to a home with adults only and she prefers women but will warm up to men. She is spayed and has her rabies and DAPP vaccine. She is good with dogs and cats.

Little Graph, you are so beautiful in your Catahoula dress and your gorgeous amber eyes. You should not hide but rather be a star'|Graph, indeed is a pretty and very medium size female. She is easy going, gentle and affectionate , even coming onto my lap when she realizes that I am a nice human. She likes to be caressed, offers her belly for a rub and gives back tiny little kisses. PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in New York
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
