Animal ID: 328201802Ziggy (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Hi! I'm Ziggy! You look so nice today! I live in a foster house with other dogs and cats, and there's a horse outside. A horse! The big dogs don't like to get right up next to him, but he and I are really good buddies. When I let him kiss my nose my foster mom calls me fearless and rolls her eyes. She's such a goof sometimes. So I guess I'm supposed to tell you a little about myself, huh? Well foster mom says I have a lot of energy, so she lets me play with the big dogs outside. The cats don't like to play very much, but I keep trying. And boy do they make great snuggle buddies when I'm sleepy! My favorite cuddle buddy is foster mom, though. ... (Read More)Sometimes, she lets me sleep with her and it's the best thing ever! Foster mom said to tell you that she thinks I would do best in a home with other dogs or older kids, maybe 5 and up. She said she isn't worried if younger kids are around, but that sometimes I play hard, even for a little dog, so keep an eye on me with younger ones. She also said something about how I'm working on crate training and house training, and that I can sit on command. I don't know what all that means, but please be sure to let her know I told you - she gives me a treat when I do what she says! She said that when she thinks of the kind of family I should have, she thinks of Norman Rockwell paintings of young boys going fishing with their dogs sitting next to them. That sounds like so much fun! Can we do that? Ziggy is a Catahoula Mix born around 1/17/2018. He will be neutered and vaccinated, before going home with his new family. His adoption fee is $85.00 and he will need a fenced yard to keep him safe while outside. Rescue Me ID: 18-03-24-00098Harley (female)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

Harley is a sweet, loyal pup. Very timid. I rescued her from a backyard where she was chained up with no food or water. Her previous owner was going to take her to the pound and have her put down simply because she had slipped out of her collar and ran off. I took her and her companion in. She is semi house broken. Meaning if you aren't home or don't pay attention when she wants to go out she will do it by the door and then go hide. I do not know if he ever abused her. But someone said she acts like an abused pup. I've never hit her myself. She is a sweetie. She enjoys cuddles, and belly rubs and scratches behind the ears. I haven't had the ... (Read More)chance to get her to the vet yet. She was way under weight when i got her. She has put on some weight since then. I attempted to keep her as an outside pup but she like the companion enjoys jumping the fence and exploring so... she to is inside when i am not home. I believe she would thrive in the country and with children. She was very fond of my nephew when he visits. She enjoys sleeping in bed with me, and recently decided to sleep in the plastic storage i use as a laundry basket. She enjoys looking out the window, so if you aren't home and she is inside raise your blinds and open the curtains. She enjoys water. At one point I had a kiddie pool but her nails poked holes in the bottom She will come with her dog igloo i bought when i got her and her food and water dishes. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-24-00094Goliath (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Goliath is a sweet, loyal and protective pup. I believe him to be about two years of age. I rescued him from a backyard where he was chained to a tree with no food, water or shelter. The previous owner said he was going to take him to the pound to be put to sleep simply because he had broken loose several times before. So, I took him and the other pup he had in. I didn't want to have to chain them up to yet another tree, so I began house training them. They are not kennel trained, and do not do well being penned up in a garage. Simply because I come home to clawed drywall. He enjoys looking out the window, I've discovered it's best to raise ... (Read More)the blinds before leaving the house. Otherwise you will return to torn up blinds. I attempted to leave them out in the back yard while at work but come to find out Goliath enjoys jumping the fence. He isn't accustomed to strangers. We are working on that. So far, he has done best with females. There is much barking, occasional growling but the whole time his tail is wagging. He has never bit anyone before. He is good with other dogs, but I would suggest introducing them in a controlled environment so they get used to one another first. He enjoys cuddles and sleeping with you in bed. Belly rubs. I believe he will do best in the country where he is free to run further. I would love to keep them forever, but I can't provide them with the things I know they need. Goliath will come with the dog house I bought for him, when attempting to make him an inside outside dog. and his food and water dishes. He gets fed outside so the water dish is huge and holds a lot of water. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Oklahoma
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Oklahoma if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.
