Catahoula Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When this dog first came to the shelter, he was named Buddah. He got adopted and was then renamed Bodie. Bodie came back to the shelter because he likes to jump on people, and when he jumps on little people, he can knock them over. The owners did not want to take the time to train Bodie not to jump, so they simply returned him to the shelter. Bodie is the best little guy ever! At just ten months old, Bodie is ready and eager to learn whatever you would like to teach him. This Catahoula blend can be shy and unsure, but with lots of love and patience, Bodie will shine like the star we know he is! He does not take long to warm up to people. ... (Read More)He's a medium sized dog, with glossy, black fur, and a cute, quirky tail that has a little kink in it. Bodie is good with older kids and other dogs, and he would make an outstanding companion for anyone looking for an all-around really sweet dog. Do not miss out on the chance to meet Bodie! Visit him at the shelter today! (Less)

Catahoula    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Beautiful, golden eyed, leopard catahoula! Loves attention, going for rides, running and hiking, & playing with other large dogs. She has been through so many temporary families (her owner was a firefighter overseas), and is hoping to find a forever home. She loves giving hugs and being cuddled. She likes to run and would really enjoy a large fenced yard. Beef bones and rawhide help keep her occupied, but she is also pretty mellow for the breed. She just loves having her 'person', going for rides, chewing on bones and exploring. This girl has lots of life & just wants a permanent place to stay and be loved. She is shock collar trained, but ... (Read More)not needed for the most part because she definitely has the intelligence typical of the breed. She loves to give hugs to her owner and rough house around (wrestle), so she leans toward men, but does great with women who aren't afraid to get down and play. If left alone and not occupied, she can get into food and will take things off counters. She does great with a dog door, but has not always had one. She is gun shy and gets a little nervous during big lightening and thunderstorms, but doesn't need medication of any kind. Just a little vocal reassurance and some noise to distract her. Be her 'person' and this dog will be your loyal love for years to come! Additional breed info: Catahoula Dogs can make good pets if they match your lifestyle. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families and tolerant of others. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become destructive (keep them busy with bones, peanutbutter stuffed KONGs, and activity). Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. The safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land. (Less)

lnteresting Catahoula Trivia Low-Cost Utah Spay & Neuter Clinics
Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Catahoulas are probably descended from the Nordic Wolfhound. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived.
