My Daughter has to re-home her dog and due to her being 8 years old we do not want to surrender her to a shelter. Her name is Kaybee, she is a sweet Catahoula Mix. She's has an excellent temperament, has been around other dogs and kids, and is an all around great dog. She doesn't want to have to get rid of her but due to having to move, she doesn't have anywhere for her to stay and we have 2 dogs already so we cant take her in. We would love to see her go to a good home with a family who will love her. If anyone has enough love in their heart to provide Kaybee with a good home, let me know.

Catahoula Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Patches is the brother of Bandit. He is 6 years old and approximately 60 pounds. Patches, like his brother, grew up on a farm and loved the freedom to run and bark. He is not an apartment dog and is searching for a family that has a yard for him to romp in. Patches was hit by a car at a very young age but has healed. He now sports a funny limp and walk in his front left leg. This might mean some arthritis as he ages but we all have issues as we age. Don't let the limp fool you. Patches has plenty of life and energy. He is good on the leash but does not like cats or bike just like his brother. He would love to chase them. He is current on ... (Read More)vaccines, neutered, up to date on flea and tick as well as Heart Guard and is Heart-worm negative. This guy has also been looking for his perfect family. Please consider giving Patches a chance! (Less)

Animal ID: 6182Bandit (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bandit grew up on a farm with his brother Patches. He was then given up and made to live in apartment with his brother. This proved not to be the best setting for both brothers as they both have a need to be active and love to run outside and bark. Bandit is approximately 55 to 60 pounds and 6 and 1/2 years old. He is an active dog and running free on a farm was all he knew. He would love to have a home with a large backyard and an family that will appreciate his need to sniff and run. He has not been around young children so we recommend no young kids that don't know their way around dogs. He also chases cats and bikes. Bandit did come to ... (Read More)us with ear infections but we have cleared those up. With a good diet and plenty of exercise Bandit would be a great addition to a family that understands hounds. Bandit is neutered, up to date on vaccines, up to date on flea and tick prevention as well as Heart Guard and is heart-worm negative. Please help this guy find a home he has been looking for 6 months. (Less)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Nalaya is a STUNNING young girl with a personality to match. She is a beautiful white dog with soft fawn colored ears and soulful eyes. Nalaya stole lots of hearts during her time at the shelter with her charm and grace. She made friends everywhere she went and the shelter staff were desperate to keep her alive, but in a rural high intake shelter, this is a task that is easier said than done. We committed to Nalaya when she was at the shelter and we are so glad we did! Nalaya loves ALL other dogs no matter how large or small. She would probably do best in a home without cats, but she is lovely with all people. We realized shortly after ... (Read More)Nalaya arrived to us that she was totally deaf! Despite this, Nalaya has been a breeze to train and we would be happy to offer training tips and suggestions to her new family. PIease Read Before Adopting a Catahoula in Virginia
Catahoula Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Catahoula, or Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, is an intelligent, loyal, and territorial breed. Catahoulas are affectionate with their own families but intolerant of strangers. Catahoulas need a lot of time and attention from their owners and are best matched with people who have experience training intelligent dogs. A Catahoula that is left alone and ignored may become aggressive or destructive. Early socialization is imperative, especially with children. Catahoulas are very physical and need a lot of exercise. Some can adapt to apartment life while others cannot; the safest bet is a home with a large fenced yard or open land.

Catahoulas only need to be bathed about twice a year. Vikings would have brought Catahoulas' ancestors to the New World hundreds of years before the Spanish arrived. Catahoulas are especially well suited to boar hunting.
